Apex Progression is a local-first app. Everything you log (workouts, body stats, programs, settings) is stored locally on your device. There is no account, no server, and no backend for your fitness data. We do not receive, transmit to our servers, sell, or share your fitness data, and we use no advertising or cross-app trackers. The copies of your fitness data that ever leave your device are ones you control: a backup or workout spreadsheet (CSV) you export, a workout or weekly summary image you choose to share, your device's own system backup (Google on Android, iCloud/computer on iOS) if you have device backup enabled (see Device backups), or a diagnostics report you choose to send to support. Nothing is ever sent automatically. The one thing we collect is purchase/subscription data for the optional Apex Pro subscription: the installed iOS/Android app checks your subscription status with our subscription provider under a random anonymous install identifier, and if you choose to buy, your purchase history — handled by the app store and that provider, and never mixed with your fitness data (see Purchases and subscriptions).
This policy explains how Apex Progression ("APEX", "the app", "we") handles your information. If you have any questions, contact us at support@promptedreality.ai.
Information we collect and how we use it
APEX processes and stores the fitness information you enter locally on your device. We do not receive, transmit to our servers, sell, or share that information. There is no account or sign-up, and we have no server that receives your fitness data, so we cannot see, access, or use what you log. The information you enter is used only by the app, on your device, to provide its features (tracking workouts, showing progress, suggesting progression, and so on).
- No account or login is required to use any feature.
- No fitness data (workouts, body stats, history, programs, or settings) is transmitted to us or to any third party.
- No advertising and no cross-app tracking; we include no third-party analytics of your fitness activity.
- The one exception is purchase/subscription-status data for the optional Apex Pro subscription, described under Purchases and subscriptions below.
Local data storage
To work, the app saves the following locally on your device:
- Workout sessions (exercises, sets, reps, weights, notes, timestamps)
- Body stats you choose to enter (e.g. bodyweight and optional measurements)
- Personal records, your selected/active program, and any custom programs or exercises
- Notes you pin to an exercise, which stay with that exercise across workouts until you remove them
- Changes you make to a program (swapped exercises, set counts, rep ranges, rest times)
- App settings (units, rest-timer preferences, etc.)
We never receive this data. It stays on your device, except for copies that you control: a backup or CSV you export yourself, an image you share, and your phone's own system backup (see Device backups below). You are in control:
- Export: Profile → Backup & Restore creates a JSON backup file that you control (save it, or move it to a new phone). Profile can also export your workout history as a CSV spreadsheet. Both files contain your personal fitness data in plain text, so store and share them carefully.
- Share: the "Share" actions on a finished workout and the weekly recap generate a summary image on your device and hand it to your phone's share sheet — it goes only where you send it.
- Delete: Profile → "Reset all data" permanently erases the app's data on your device: your training history, records, and settings. Uninstalling the app also removes its local data. Your subscription status is held by the App Store / Google Play and RevenueCat rather than on this device, so it survives a reset; see Purchases and subscriptions for how to cancel it and how to request deletion of the RevenueCat record.
Purchases and subscriptions
Apex Pro is an optional paid subscription. The core app is free; Pro unlocks additional creation and analysis features.
- Payment is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their own privacy policies. We never see or store your card or payment details.
- We use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, to check whether your subscription is active so the app can unlock Pro. The installed iOS/Android app performs this check when you use it (at launch and when it returns to the foreground) for every user, whether or not you ever subscribe, under a randomly generated, anonymous identifier for your app install. Alongside that identifier, RevenueCat may process routine technical metadata that comes with the check: device type and operating-system version, its SDK version, and when the app was last seen. If you subscribe, it also receives the store's purchase record for your subscription — the Apple receipt or Google purchase token and your purchase history (which product, when, renewals, refunds). It does not receive your name, workouts, body stats, measurements, notes, or any other fitness content. It processes this on our behalf as a service provider, encrypted in transit; its handling is governed by RevenueCat's privacy policy.
- We use this only to deliver and support your subscription — unlocking Pro, restoring purchases, and understanding subscription totals (trials, conversions, renewals, refunds). There is no advertising use and no cross-app tracking.
- Because there is no Apex account, your subscription is tied to your App Store / Google Play account; restoring it on a new device uses the store, not an Apex login.
- Deleting this data: "Reset all data" and uninstalling remove everything stored on your device, but they do not delete the subscription record RevenueCat holds (the anonymous identifier and purchase history above — it has no way to know you uninstalled). To have that record deleted, email support@promptedreality.ai; include the subscription-support identifier from Profile's diagnostics report if you have it, and we will delete the customer record with RevenueCat. Note that store-side purchase records at Apple/Google are governed by their own policies.
Device backups
On both platforms, your device's own backup includes APEX's data. Here is exactly what that means on each:
- Android: so you don't lose your training history when you switch phones or reinstall, APEX lets Android's own Auto Backup include the app's data. That backup goes to your own Google account, not to us or any third party, and is protected through your Google Account under Google's policy. (On modern Android versions, these backups are end-to-end encrypted when you have a screen lock set: PIN, pattern, or password.) We have no access to it. You can turn it off in Settings → System → Backup (or Google One backup); with it off, the in-app export below is how you move or keep your data.
- iOS: so you don't lose your training history when you switch phones or restore, APEX's data is included in your own device backups: iCloud Backup and encrypted computer (Finder/iTunes) backups. Those backups belong to your Apple account, not to us or any third party, and are encrypted by Apple (end-to-end when you turn on Advanced Data Protection). We have no access to them. If you prefer to keep the app's data out of iCloud entirely, you can exclude APEX from iCloud Backup in your iPhone's iCloud settings and use the in-app export below instead.
Health-related data
Workout and body-measurement data can be considered health-related. It is stored locally and treated like all other app data: it stays on your device, and is only ever included in a backup you control (your export, or your own device backup: your Google account on Android, your iCloud/computer backup on iOS; see Device backups). The app does not read from or write to Apple Health (HealthKit) or Android Health Connect.
Notifications
The app schedules local notifications (such as the rest-timer alert) directly on your device. They are generated on-device and are not sent through any server.
Crash diagnostics
If the app hits an error, it keeps a small local record to help with troubleshooting. This record stays on your device unless you choose to share it by tapping "Email support" or "Copy report" in Profile, which opens an email you review and send. So you know exactly what you would be sharing, a report contains: the app version and build stamp, the platform, your device's browser/OS identifier (the "User-Agent") and screen size, the time the report was generated, counts such as how many workouts you have (never their contents), on the iOS/Android app the random anonymous subscription-support identifier described under Purchases and subscriptions (so support can locate a purchase problem — it links to no personal or fitness information), and recent error messages with their technical stack traces and the context they occurred in. It is designed not to include your name, bodyweight values, notes, or workout contents — though a technical error trace could incidentally reflect text you had entered at the moment of the error, which is another reason you review the report before sending it. We use no third-party crash-reporting or analytics service.
Third-party services
APEX embeds no third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs. The external parties involved are limited to app distribution, hosting, and the payment and subscription-management layer described above:
- Apple App Store / TestFlight and Google Play distribute the app and, if you subscribe, process your payment. Your use of those platforms is governed by Apple's and Google's own privacy policies.
- RevenueCat (subscription management): the installed iOS/Android app checks subscription status with it under an anonymous install identifier, alongside routine technical metadata (device type, OS/SDK version, last-seen time); if you buy Apex Pro it also receives the store's purchase record for your subscription to keep it in sync — and never your fitness data (see Purchases and subscriptions).
- Web version (hosting): a browser version of APEX is hosted on Vercel. Like any website, the host may automatically log standard technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability; that is governed by the host's own policy and is not used by us to identify you or build a profile. The installed iOS/Android apps run from local files and do not make these requests for your app data.
Children's privacy
Apex Progression is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region) and does not knowingly collect data from them. (Aside from the purchase/subscription-status data described above, it collects no data from anyone.)
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, note the change in the app or store listing. Material changes (for example, if a future version adds a cloud, account, or health-integration feature) will be reflected here before that feature ships.
